About the Cost

Why are these figures more expensive than figures in the craft and collectibles stores?

What you find in the stores are mass produced overseas from plastic, ceramic or resin.

Our material is Pewter, an expensive metal.

Our pieces are hand-crafted, one at a time,  in Sumner Washington. We don't ask much for the time we spend casting and painting but  we do ask more than companies using overseas labor.

Lead vrs Pewter

We are not unique in making metal figures for the collector market. However you must be aware that only a few crafters use pewter.

Many use a lead alloy because it is less expensive and casts easier. However it does have harmful properties.

We use only lead free Pewter. It is more expensive, it is harder to cast, but it is safe for us and the buyer.

Victorian Life in Miniature is our place for sets and single figures that we make ourself. Some of our figures are origional scupltings. Some are from molds we have purchased from toy soldier mold manufacturers.

The frigures go well in street scenes with carolers, shoppers and shopkeepers or as a stand alone display piece.

Size is comparable to the figures that accompany the Department 56, Dickens Village or the Lemax Christmas villages.

Each of our pewter figures is handcast and hand painted in our Sumner, Washington workshop. We are following in the footsteps of pewter workers who for centuries have based their craft in their homes. It is one if the oldest cottage craft industries.
